Masking Technique

So while surfing the internet today I found this adorable card that I just had to case, full credit to brierrose from Splitcoast Stampers, unfortunately I couldn't find a blog for her. Her card was in a lovely bright yellow.

I put this together in hoping that my supplies would arrive today as the twine would look great holding the bird cage up as per the sample however it didn't arrive so until it does my poor bird is floating in mid air.

The masking technique is what you can see around the bird cage. To get this affect I stamped this image on another piece of paper, cut it out and placed it over the image on my card and sponged the Stampin' Up! Pastels over the top and around it.

Stampin’ Up! Needs All Kinds Of Demonstrators

Which demonstrator would you be?

Discount Demonstrator: Likes the idea of buying stamps for personal use at a 20% discount and occasionally sells to neighbors, relatives, friends, etc.

Short-Term Demonstrator: Sells for a short period of time to earn a specified amount of money and stops when the goal is reached.

Seasonal Demonstrator: Works hard at the business during September, October, and November for seasonal money and maintains minimum orders and sales during the balance of the year.

Hobby Demonstrator: Loves doing workshops and earning extra money when it’s convenient; works a lot some months and very little other months; likes to do workshops that are easy to book; doesn’t like to work too hard to book workshops.

Career Demonstrator: Views a Stampin’ Up! demonstratorship as a viable business with long-term career potential; pursues management and wants to move up the career ladder; loves attending Stampin’ Up! Events and has developed close social relationships with other demonstrators; works at her business in a consistent and outgoing manner.

As you can see, this is a flexible, fun business you can build to suit your needs and desires. Make it fit for you by using your unique talents and style.

If any of these ideas appeal to you, ask me for more information
about becoming a demonstrator!

Card Stock Storage

While blog hopping I found someone who had used hanging files to store their card stock in so I decided to get one that would sit on the top of my desk, unfortunately it's not quite big enough for the current colour range as I currently only have three of the four colour families, the in colours and the neutrals, so fingers crossed that once we switch to the new colour ranges (see earlier post) they will fit in nicely. I am yet to purchase a label maker which will allow me to label these in a clear tape over the sample of paper in each tab.

Workshops

I'm in the process of getting these ready to do a letter box drop around my local area, if you or any of your friends may be interesting please contact me for more information.

Colour Families

There are so many colours within our colour range and they are also about to change.

Come the 1st September the colour families as we know them will no longer be the same so if there is a favourite colour of yours that is being removed from the collection the best thing to do is to stock up on the card stock, ink refills and ribbons. Below you will see the new families

And these are the ones we will be saying a fond farewell to...

This can be a bit daunting for a new stamper or one who is in the process of putting together their collection. So as a suggestion from Stampin' Up! below are the suggested "Getting Started" for your colour collection.

Pretty in Pink
Marina Mist
Certainly Celery
Daffodil Delight
Early Espresso
Basic Black
Rich Razzleberry
Night of Navy
Old Olive
Pumpkin Pie
Real Red
Whisper White

From this collection you'll be able to put together a whole range of different projects for an assortment of occasions

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll be more than happy to help.

Craft Space Project 1 - Complete... maybe...

I have always had issues with my ribbons, was much more drama when I had a range of different kinds but since I've decided to only use Stampin' Up! products they have been stored in a drawer, however I'm a firm believer of out of sight out of mind... so many treasures were found when I emptied out my craft space back in NZ... so I decided I needed somewhere handy, visible and pleasing to the eye... the last part is still to come but I've put together this to store my ribbons.

I found a plain drawer in the IKEA "as is" area that was perfect (white and eye pleasing), grabbed some curtain wire, hooks and eyes and put it together. The ribbon runs a bit "too" freely so I'm going to get some white beads to place between the ribbon reels to fill in some space until I've filled it up *rubs hands together in thought of purchasing more colours and designs*

The plan was to put some designer paper in the back but since it's wider than the 12" I've decided to hold off until I've decided what to do with the bottom part and I've finished my craft room as I'm not sure what colours to use in the background and I'll need atleast 4 sheets of the designer paper or 4+ sheets of stamped A4 paper.

Now onto Project 2... find a way to store my punches so they too are in sight...

Such a long week...

Another week begins and man how fast did last week disappear. With my oldest son leaving last weekend, my mother in law leaving on Wednesday, spent Thursday with a dear friends daughter and managed to slip in the two projects below. Friday was a family day, taking my mum to get an injection in her back and the afternoon with my Nana then the evening was at a dinner for my niece's 2nd bithrday. Saturday we had a 1st birthday party and then dinner at a friends and Sunday was spent at the Redcliff markets. So as you can see since my kit arrived on Wednesday I have not had the chance to catch up on some much needed craft time. So bring on the crafting.... straight after the house work that is...

:-( Lost in the World Wide Web :-(

I've updated my blog to include my new "name" - Stylish Stamping - and all of my old links have disappeared... I can't believe that they are all gone... sob sob

So please note that I did not remove anyone because I no longer treasured their blog, it was an updating error that went wrong

Danielle

How Exciting...

Just received my email notification that my two orders are on their way already, this is such an added bonus as I wasn't expecting them to be dispatched until Tuesday at the earliest and even better news is that being that I'm in Australia now (not New Zealand) they will arrive a lot faster... watch this space for my boxes of goodies... I best get a move on with setting up a craft space!
